Five exceptional programs are woven into the fabric of Harney ESD Early Childhood Center.  Each helps prepare children for success in public school and many provide special support for families.

 

Programs offered at the Early Childhood Center include:

 

Head Start

Harney County Head Start offers morning or afternoon preschool to eligible children four days a week.  In the rural areas of the county, a preschool program is available through home visits and socialization groups.  The Head Start programs emphasize nutrition, preliteracy skills, music, and positive social skills.

Home Based Head Start

Socialization Dates are: Feb. 2 and 16; and March 1 and 15; from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

 

Great Start

Preschool classes for three and four year old children are held two days a week at the Early Childhood Center.

 

 

 

Healthy Start

Healthy Start offers support services to parents who are expecting or have a new baby.  Home visits provide information and connection to support services. Playgroups serve parents with toddlers up to age three.

 

  • Playgroups for November are: February 7, 14, 21, 28; and March 6, 13, 20 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • "Make Parenting a Pleasure" Parenting Class, open for interested parents, will run Feb. 7, 14, 21 and 28.

 

Early Intervention

Early Intervention provides special education to eligible infant and toddlers.

 

 

Special Education

Early Intervention Special Education reaches eligible preschoolers who may exhibit hearing, vision, speech or motor delays.
